Shades of Bay, LLC is owned and operated by Katie Petronelli. Newly based out of Leesburg, Virginia, (on Evergreen Mill Road).Katie specializes in riding lessons to all ages. Our students are currently competing in Leadline through Childrens / Adult jumpers. The main goal with all riders is to have fun while learning.

Katie grew up in Connecticut with a horse oriented family. Showing throughout her junior career in the northeast, and then continuing that tradition once in college in Southwest Virginia.

After school Katie worked for Kenny and Carolyn Krome (Persimmon Tree Farm and K-2 Show Stables) in Maryland and then for a year with Ashmont Farm (Allyson and Evan Coluccio) in The Plains, Virginia. She was then offered a job to work for Dr's Gary and Shauna Spurlock at their own Spurlock Equine Associates in Lovettsville, Virginia. Katie worked there for nearly 4 years as the office manager, as well as helping with on call duties. During that time Katie acquired students and was teaching in the evenings and weekends. She then realized that teaching was her true passion. Thus began Shades of Bay, LLC.
